So this week was pretty insane. A baptism, 2 confirmations, 12 investigators in church, a wayy solid new investigator, and a new baptisimal date. Pretty fetching awesome week. I have no idea why we are so blessed but I'm not complaining! I'll share some of the coolest things.
The coolest was prolly our appointment with J and K (K got baptized last week and J is her husband) on Thanksgiving. We talked about her baptism on Sunday and how awesome it was and then we talked about the restoration and finding answers and K just kept smiling and trying to pry something out of J and he then told us that he had studied and prayed a ton because he wanted to be as sure of the church as his wife was, and he received the answer that he always knew it was true. He said his rational way of thinking kinda hindered him and he just had to trust his feelings more. His wife is like one of the best examples of trusting feelings that I've ever met so that was amazing. He was stoked, she was beaming, and we were stoked as we made out a date for his baptism on the 18th of December. The example of a righteous wife is a powerful thing, and we have to not doubt our spiritual witnesses. AWESOME.
On Sunday I had the privilege of confirming C and haha let's just say I've never given a blessing in german before because I struggled. But I felt the spirit and it was an awesome experience. C bawled afterwards haha and kept saying she can't believe she's finally a Mormon. She was sooo happy. So was the family. So was I.
N's baptism was delayed because some kid pulled the plug out of the font and they had to fill it again. But ya it went really well and it was a touching experience. She gave up so much for baptism but she did it all gladly and was so happy to be baptized. P was touched. I told him he's the next in the family. I hope I'm around for his baptism is all I can say.
We also got a way solid new investigator. K. We invited her to church on the street one night and she came. The next weekend she went to a young single adult activity. Then to church again. Then to insitute on Tuesday. Then we finally met with her on Saturday and she had 1 Nephi all read with notes and questions. Wayyy cool. No baptismal date yet but it's for sure coming. She comes to every church meeting and is doing everything necessary to get a testimony.
Instead of a Christlike attribute this week I wanted to give a Thanksgiving message sort of thing. In my personal study randomly Alma 26 landed on Thanksgiving. Alma 26 is basically a beautiful chapter of Alma giving thanks and praising the Lord for all their success on their mission where they converted thousands of Lamanites. The conversions came after much suffering. I identified a ton with him. We had 2 awful weeks before we met these two awesome families, hardly enough suffering to pay for the blessings, but ya we got to help in the conversion of two awesome families! Family conversions almost never take place in Germany and we are experiencing two right now! Might as well be thousands to me. I felt super grateful to the Lord and said several prayers this week with only thanks, not asking for anything. The meeting with J happened on Thanksgiving too and basically I have sooo much to be thankful for out here. Even though Thankgiving is over read Alma 26 and think about what the Lord has blessed you with and thank Him. In Alma's words, "who can glory too much in the Lord?" Not me.
Much love and til next week!
Elder Clayton
