So this week was real interesting. So much happened but I'm not going to be able to write much about it. I'll just tell the highlights and if I run outta time I run outta time.
We got a new baptismal date!! D is a lady we met with once like 2 months ago and left a Book of Mormon with. She seemed really open and excited about it so we thought awesome she's gonna be a great investigator! But then she never answered the doorbell and we didn't have her phone number so we just ringed by all the time. For like 2 straight months we tried like every other day and didn't get let in until last Saturday. We were super surprised to actually get in and it went really well. She said she had read out of the Book of Mormon with her kids a little bit and we taught her the first lesson and it all went pretty well. We got her phone number but didn't make out a next appointment cause she didn't know when she would be free but this Tuesday we called her up to see if she had time and she was like, yea come on over. The kids were napping so it was nice and quiet and we taught the plan of salvation and the spirit was there. She is a way loving mom so she loved how familiy oriented God made the plan of salvation and she kept saying how glad she was to have all this knowledge. We saw her two days later on the street with her kids and she asked us what was next to learn so we told her a little bit about the 3rd lesson and told her a lil bit more about church too. The next day she texted us to come over and teach! Wayyy awesome! That never ever happens! So we planned a bomb 3rd lesson with emphasis on priesthood authority to baptize and went over. Before we started she told us how the plan of salvation sounded "familiar" to her. Awesome! We taught a great 3rd lesson with lots of scriptures and good questions and she was thinking and we were testifying and all were sharing personal experiences that pertained and it was awesome. We extended the commitment to be baptized by someone with the proper priesthood authority and she agreed! Awesome!! She is so cool and would be such an awesome member! If all goes well she will be baptized on the 13th of November! She was out of town yesterday but is planning to come to church next Sunday. This was an unbelievable pick me up because ya, things had been going pretty crappy lately as far as the work goes. Our two former baptisimal date candidates decided to be unreachable for the last 2 or 3 weeks and ya we were pretty down about that but God had prepared another! Anyway that was just an awesome story that I had to share.
The Christlike attribute for this week was very fitting. Hope. As the work had really slowed down we had been praying for new opportunties for success and it worked. I found a cool pattern in Alma 58:10-11 about hope. The people prayed for strength for deliverance from their enemies and were visited of the Lord with assurances and had peace spoken to their souls. The pattern I identified is this: prayer brings peace, peace brings HOPE, HOPE brings strength, strength brings deliverance. HOPE is in the middle of it all but it starts with prayer.
Love you all! This church is true. It brings hope. Alles gute! Til next week.
